A creamy, smooth, and easy-to-make vanilla buttercream frosting that’s perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and more.
Ingredients
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons whole milk
- Pinch of kosher salt
Instructions
- Beat the softened butter on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low until combined.
- Add vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of milk. Mix on medium speed until smooth. Add more milk if needed.
- Add a pinch of kosher salt and mix again.
- Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, or store for later use.
Notes
- Add food coloring to customize for different occasions.
- For a richer flavor, try adding a little almond extract along with the vanilla.
