Soft, chocolatey Banana Bread Brownies made with ripe bananas, cocoa powder, and a moist crumb. An easy dessert that blends the comfort of banana bread with the richness of brownies.
Ingredients
Brownie Batter
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Optional Topping
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment.
- In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Fold gently to combine.
- Pour in the milk and stir until the batter is fully incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- For the topping, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over the batter, and dot with butter pieces.
- Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan before slicing.
Notes
- Extra-ripe bananas create the best flavor and texture.
- Add walnuts, pecans, or extra chocolate chips for variation.
- For cleaner slices, refrigerate for 30 minutes before cutting.
- Double the recipe in a 9×13-inch pan; add 5–10 minutes to bake time.
