Ingredients
Brownie Base
- 1 box brownie mix (18–20 oz)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1/4 cup water
Texas Trash Toppings
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed pretzels
- 1/3 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/3 cup M&M’s or chocolate candies
(You may mix and match toppings as desired.)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it. - Prepare the Brownie Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the brownie mix, eggs, oil, and water. Stir until smooth and well combined. - Pour Batter into the Pan
Transfer the brownie batter to the prepared pan and spread evenly. - Add the Trash Toppings
Sprinkle all your chosen toppings — chocolate chips, pretzels, coconut, nuts, marshmallows, and candies — evenly over the batter. Gently press them into the surface so they adhere during baking. - Bake
Bake for 25–28 minutes, or until the center is just set and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. - Cool and Slice
Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares. This helps the layers firm up for clean slices.
Notes
- Press toppings lightly into the batter so they bake in and don’t fall off.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal.
- For extra fudgy brownies, underbake by 2 minutes.
- Add caramel drizzle before baking for richer flavor.
- Leftover Halloween or holiday candies work great as mix-ins!
- Want thicker brownies? Bake in an 8×8 pan instead of 9×9.
