Description
These Sweet Orange Cream Cheese Mints are creamy, melt-in-your-mouth citrus candies made with just 6 simple ingredients. Perfect for holidays, parties, and edible gifts—no cooking required!
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter (softened)
- 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature, Philadelphia brand preferred)
- 1/2 tsp orange extract
- 1 tsp grated orange peel (freshly zested)
- 1–2 drops orange gel coloring (optional)
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
Instructions
- Cream the Base:
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy. - Add Flavoring:
Mix in the orange extract, fresh orange zest, and gel coloring until evenly blended. - Add Powdered Sugar:
Slowly add the sifted confectioners’ sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a thick dough forms. - Knead the Dough:
Lightly dust your surface with powdered sugar and knead the dough until smooth and pliable. - Shape the Mints:
Roll into small 1-inch balls and flatten gently with a fork, or press into silicone candy molds. - Dry:
Transfer mints to a parchment-lined tray and allow them to dry for 2–4 hours, or overnight for firmer texture. - Serve or Store:
Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- If dough is sticky, add more confectioners’ sugar.
- For softer mints, reduce powdered sugar by ¼ cup.
- Gel coloring works best—liquid food coloring makes the dough too soft.
- Use different citrus extracts (lemon, tangerine) for flavor variations.
- Mints freeze beautifully for long-term storage.
