Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature, Philadelphia brand preferred)
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 1 tsp grated orange peel (freshly zested)
  • 12 drops orange gel coloring (optional)
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted


Instructions

  1. Cream the Base:
    In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add Flavoring:
    Mix in the orange extract, fresh orange zest, and gel coloring until evenly blended.
  3. Add Powdered Sugar:
    Slowly add the sifted confectioners’ sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a thick dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough:
    Lightly dust your surface with powdered sugar and knead the dough until smooth and pliable.
  5. Shape the Mints:
    Roll into small 1-inch balls and flatten gently with a fork, or press into silicone candy molds.
  6. Dry:
    Transfer mints to a parchment-lined tray and allow them to dry for 2–4 hours, or overnight for firmer texture.
