Description
Crispy smash-style ground beef pressed onto flour tortillas, topped with melty cheese, fresh toppings, and a creamy homemade burger sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 flour tortillas (6 inches)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable or canola)
- 4 slices American cheese (or preferred cheese)
Fresh Toppings:
- ¼ cup diced onion
- ½ cup dill pickle chips
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
Homemade Sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- Divide ground beef into four equal portions. Press each portion thinly onto one side of each tortilla. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place tortilla beef-side down in the skillet and press firmly with a spatula. Cook 2–3 minutes until beef is browned and crispy.
- Flip tortilla, place a slice of cheese on top of the cooked beef, and cook another 1–2 minutes until cheese melts and tortilla is lightly golden.
- Remove from skillet and repeat with remaining tortillas.
- Top with lettuce, onions, pickles, and sauce. Fold and serve immediately.
Notes
- Press the beef thinly for crisp edges and even cooking.
- Use 80/20 ground beef for extra flavor if desired.
- Keep heat at medium-high for proper browning without burning the tortilla.
- Add toppings just before serving to keep tortillas crisp.
