Description

Crispy smash-style ground beef pressed onto flour tortillas, topped with melty cheese, fresh toppings, and a creamy homemade burger sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 flour tortillas (6 inches)
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 4 slices American cheese (or preferred cheese)

Fresh Toppings:

  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • ½ cup dill pickle chips
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

Homemade Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  2. Divide ground beef into four equal portions. Press each portion thinly onto one side of each tortilla. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Place tortilla beef-side down in the skillet and press firmly with a spatula. Cook 2–3 minutes until beef is browned and crispy.
  5. Flip tortilla, place a slice of cheese on top of the cooked beef, and cook another 1–2 minutes until cheese melts and tortilla is lightly golden.
  6. Remove from skillet and repeat with remaining tortillas.
  7. Top with lettuce, onions, pickles, and sauce. Fold and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Press the beef thinly for crisp edges and even cooking.
  • Use 80/20 ground beef for extra flavor if desired.
  • Keep heat at medium-high for proper browning without burning the tortilla.
  • Add toppings just before serving to keep tortillas crisp.
