Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Red Velvet Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring


Instructions

  1. Preheat and grease waffle iron.
  2. Mix dry ingredients for classic batter; whisk wet ingredients separately and combine gently.
  3. Repeat process for red velvet batter.
  4. Spoon alternating dollops of both batters onto waffle iron.
  5. Swirl lightly with a toothpick.
  6. Cook 3–5 minutes until crisp and cooked through.
  7. Transfer to wire rack and repeat with remaining batter.

Notes
