Description

Creamy Marry Me Chicken Orzo is a one-pan dinner with juicy chicken, tender orzo pasta, and a parmesan cream sauce. Easy, comforting, and perfect for family meals or date nights!

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts (or thighs), boneless & skinless
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season Chicken: Sprinkle chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Sear: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauce Base: In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add sun-dried tomatoes and stir.
  4. Cook Orzo: Add orzo, toast lightly, then pour in chicken broth. Simmer until pasta is nearly cooked.
  5. Creamy Sauce: Stir in heavy cream and parmesan until smooth and creamy.
  6. Finish: Nestle chicken back into the skillet and cook until chicken is fully done and orzo is tender.
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine before adding broth.
  • Stir orzo often to prevent sticking.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
  • Use chicken thighs for juicier meat.
