Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.
  • In a large bowl, whisk pumpkin puree, sugars, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Stir in half the chocolate chips, reserving some for the top.
  • Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • For extra decadence, frost with cream cheese icing once cooled.
  • Substitute nuts (walnuts or pecans) for chocolate chips if you want crunch.
  • Don’t overbake—these bars should stay soft and fudgy.
