Description

Juicy chicken breasts cooked in a simple honey mustard sauce that balances sweetness, tang, and savory flavor. This easy skillet recipe works well for weeknight meals or simple entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, honey, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and nearly cooked through.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and pour the honey mustard sauce over the chicken.
  6. Spoon the sauce over the chicken and simmer for 3–5 minutes, turning once, until the sauce thickens and chicken reaches 165°F internal temperature.
  7. Remove from heat and rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Slice thick chicken breasts in half for quicker, more even cooking.
  • Reduce honey slightly for a less sweet sauce.
  • Add fresh thyme or parsley for extra flavor.
  • Serve with rice, roasted vegetables, or a simple green salad.
