Description
Deliciously sweet and perfectly caramelized Honey Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes — an easy, healthy side dish that’s full of flavor. Made with honey, cinnamon, and olive oil, this simple recipe is ideal for holidays or everyday dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs (about 4 medium) sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
- Mix the Coating: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, cinnamon, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Toss to Coat: Add sweet potatoes to the bowl and toss until all cubes are evenly coated.
- Roast: Spread them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and tender.
- Optional Glaze: Drizzle with extra honey right after removing from the oven for a glossy finish.
- Serve Warm: Enjoy as a side dish or mix into salads and grain bowls.
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the pan: Spread sweet potatoes evenly so they roast instead of steam.
- Add crunch: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts before roasting for a nutty twist.
- Extra caramelization: Let them roast an extra 5 minutes for deeper flavor—but keep a close eye to avoid burning.
- Vegan-friendly: Substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
- Make ahead: Prep and coat potatoes the night before; roast fresh before serving.
