Description

Golden-fried sandwiches filled with sweetened cream cheese, strawberries, and jam. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and easy to make with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices brioche or challah bread
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ¼ cup strawberry jam
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto 4 slices of bread. Top with strawberry jam and sliced strawberries.
  3. Place remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches and press gently.
  4. Whisk eggs and milk together in a shallow bowl.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Dip each sandwich briefly into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  7. Cook sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Transfer to a plate, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut brioche or challah for best texture and stability
  • Do not overfill sandwiches to prevent leaking while frying
  • Serve immediately for the crispiest exterior
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon to the egg mixture for extra warmth
