Description
Golden-fried sandwiches filled with sweetened cream cheese, strawberries, and jam. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and easy to make with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 8 slices brioche or challah bread
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- ¼ cup strawberry jam
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp butter, for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture onto 4 slices of bread. Top with strawberry jam and sliced strawberries.
- Place remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches and press gently.
- Whisk eggs and milk together in a shallow bowl.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each sandwich briefly into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
- Cook sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
- Transfer to a plate, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use thick-cut brioche or challah for best texture and stability
- Do not overfill sandwiches to prevent leaking while frying
- Serve immediately for the crispiest exterior
- Add a pinch of cinnamon to the egg mixture for extra warmth
