Description

Rich, creamy coffee-flavored frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Smooth, easy to make, and customizable to taste.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
  • ½ cup (118ml) vegetable shortening (can substitute with butter)
  • 2 tsp instant coffee granules dissolved in 2 tbsp milk
  • Additional 12 tsp instant coffee granules
  • 24 cups (227–454g) powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Dissolve 2 tsp instant coffee in 2 tbsp warm milk. Set aside.
  2. Beat butter and shortening until creamy and fluffy (3–4 mins).
  3. Mix in dissolved coffee. Taste and add extra coffee granules if desired.
  4. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth and fluffy. Adjust consistency with more sugar or milk.
  5. Scrape sides, mix again, and use to frost cakes or cupcakes.

Notes

  • Chill for 10 minutes for stiffer frosting perfect for piping.
  • Store in airtight container at room temp (2 days) or fridge (1 week).
  • Freeze for up to 3 months and re-whip before using.
