Description

A hearty baked casserole loaded with chili-seasoned beef, sliced hot dogs, crispy tater tots, and gooey cheddar cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 hot dogs or smoked sausages, sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili seasoning
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Optional Toppings

  • Sour cream
  • Jalapeños
  • Green onions
  • Extra cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray.
  3. Brown ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in chili seasoning, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
  6. Add sliced hot dogs and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Spread mixture into casserole dish.
  8. Sprinkle with 1½ cups cheddar cheese.
  9. Arrange frozen tater tots evenly on top.
  10. Bake for 35–40 minutes until tater tots are crispy.
  11. Top with remaining cheese and bake another 5 minutes.
  12. Serve warm with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Use smoked sausage for extra flavor.
  • Add jalapeños for more heat.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven for crispier tater tots.
