Description

Crispy Chilli Beef Rice is a crispy strips of beef tossed in a sticky chilli-garlic sauce and served over jasmine rice. This easy homemade version of a takeout favorite is bold, flavorful, and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 300g flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red chilli, finely chopped (or 1 tsp chilli paste)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Toss beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry beef in batches until crispy; drain on paper towels.
  3. In a separate pan, sauté garlic and chilli. Add soy sauce, honey, vinegar, and sesame oil; simmer until thickened.
  4. Toss crispy beef in the sauce to coat.
  5. Serve over cooked jasmine rice and garnish with spring onions.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Fry in small batches to keep the beef crispy.
  • Add extra chilli for more heat, or swap in chilli paste for convenience.
