Description
This Chicken Cordon Bleu Stromboli combines tender chicken, smoky ham, and melted Swiss cheese rolled in golden pizza dough. A delicious twist on a French classic — perfect for dinners, parties, or game days!
Ingredients
- 1 sheet pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 ½ cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or sliced
- 6 slices deli ham
- 6 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dough: Roll pizza dough into a large rectangle (around 10×14 inches).
- Spread the Mustard: Brush Dijon mustard evenly across the surface, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Layer the Fillings: Add Swiss cheese slices first, then layer ham, followed by cooked chicken.
- Roll the Stromboli: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Seal the edges and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
- Brush and Season: Brush the top with melted butter (or egg wash) and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp on top.
- Cool and Slice: Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into even portions. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with Dijon or honey mustard for dipping.
Notes
- Use pre-cooked chicken: Rotisserie chicken makes this recipe quick and flavorful.
- Don’t overfill: Keep the layers thin to prevent the Stromboli from bursting open while baking.
- Add extra flavor: Sprinkle a little grated Parmesan on top before baking for a cheesy crust.
- Reheat properly: Warm leftovers in the oven for a crispy crust — avoid microwaving.
- Customize it: Try adding spinach, caramelized onions, or different cheeses for your own twist.
