Description
Juicy oven-baked beef patties filled and topped with melted cheese, seasoned simply and baked until tender and flavorful. A comforting main dish that pairs well with many sides.
Ingredients
Patty Mixture
- 680 g beef mince (20% fat)
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 60 g breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp Italian herb blend
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For Finishing
- 170 g cheese (mozzarella or cheddar), cubed
- 120 g grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine all patty mixture ingredients until just mixed.
- Divide mixture into 6–8 portions. Flatten each portion and place cheese cubes in the center.
- Seal and shape into thick patties. Arrange on the baking tray.
- Brush patties lightly with olive oil.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then remove from oven and sprinkle grated cheese on top.
- Return to oven and bake another 10–15 minutes, until cooked through and cheese is melted.
- Rest briefly before serving. Garnish if desired.
Notes
- Do not overmix the beef to keep patties tender
- Seal cheese well inside to prevent leaking
- Let patties rest before serving to retain juices
