A fusion-style baked dish made with dumpling wrappers layered with savory pork, vegetables, cheese, and a rich soy ginger sauce.
Ingredients
For the Lasagna
- 24 dumpling or wonton wrappers
- 1 pound ground pork or chicken
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 medium carrot, julienned
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 5 ounces napa cabbage, shredded
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 7 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3.5 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
- Black and white sesame seeds, for garnish
For the Soy Ginger Sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook onion until softened, then add garlic and ginger.
- Add ground pork or chicken and cook until browned.
- Stir in carrot, bell pepper, and napa cabbage; cook until slightly softened.
- Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Remove from heat.
Prepare the Sauce
- In a small saucepan combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, ginger, garlic, chili flakes, and sesame oil.
- Simmer briefly and stir in the cornstarch mixture until slightly thickened.
Assemble
- Spread a thin layer of filling in a baking dish.
- Add a layer of dumpling wrappers.
- Add more filling, drizzle sauce, and sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar.
- Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Slightly overlap dumpling wrappers to create even layers.
- Use ground chicken for a lighter version.
- Let the dish rest 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner portions.
