Description

Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts are soft on the inside, crisp on the edges, and packed with fresh apples and warm spices. Finished with a simple vanilla glaze, they deliver classic apple fritter flavor without frying.

Ingredients

Waffle Donut Batter

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ½ tablespoon oil
  • 1½ cups shredded apples

Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional

  • Cinnamon sugar, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle maker and lightly grease with nonstick spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk egg, milk, and oil until smooth.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  5. Fold in shredded apples evenly.
  6. Spoon batter into waffle maker and cook until golden and set, about 3–5 minutes.
  7. Remove and cool slightly on a wire rack.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to form glaze.
  9. Drizzle or dip waffle donuts in glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart flavor or Honeycrisp for sweeter donuts.
  • Avoid overmixing to keep the texture tender.
  • Glaze while warm for better coverage.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
